What a day! We woke up rather late because of our late arrival into Boston. Teddy was the first up at 8:40.  Everyone else soon followed.  Due to our late waking, our day didn't get going until almost lunch.  While everyone was waking up and getting dressed, Dad went to a nearby grocery store to get some snacks and muffins.  Teddy loved the blueberry muffin.  Thom's first interaction with Bostonians was when he went to the breakfast downstairs, which he thought was free; it wasn't. He tried to make toast and get coffee and quickly found out he had to pay for it if he wanted it.

Once we were ready to go we headed to the very close T (subway) station.  We bought our passes and away we went.  Our first stop was the Boston Common Visitor Center. Here we purchased our Boston Go passes for the next three days. These give us free entry and line skips into many attractions.  We decided our first use of the pass would be on the walking tour of the Freedom Trail. This tour only went through about half of the trail; the rest we will have to see another day. We had time to grab some lunch before our tour so Dad and I went to a street vendor while Mom, Thom and Teddy got Burger King.  We sat at a cute seating area by a fountain. Teddy enjoyed watching the pigeons. While following a pigeon he found the Boston Public Library and a little stand in the area. Teddy and I sat with them and we read stories. Teddy did a nice job helping turn the pages.

At 12:30 we began the Freedom Trail tour. Our group was large so sometimes we had a hard time hearing. Our guide did a nice job explaining things and telling stories. We saw the Capitol, Paul Revere's tomb, the site of the Boston Massacre and the Old State House, just to name a few. Teddy was starting to get annoyed of being in his stroller all this time, so we carried him part of the way.

At the conclusion of our tour we decided to find the Green Dragon Tavern which is the birthplace of the Sons of Liberty and the headquarters for the Revolution. We got an appetizer to share and some drinks. Thom thinks the Sam Adams beer tastes better here. Mom and I go the Green Dragon Sangria.  By this point Teddy was losing all patience with everything. To avoid a scene in the restaurant Teddy and I walked around outside. Less than a block away was an incredible farmers market with fresh fruits and vegetables. Everything was very inexpensive there. The carton of strawberries and blueberries were only a dollar each!

While making our way to the harbor we saw a neat looking memorial. When we went over we realized it was the Boston Holocaust Memorial. Each of the glass sculptures represents a different concentration camp. The glass is covered in numbers that represent people in the Holocaust. The glass sculptures also have quotes from survivors on them. It is really heartbreaking. As we were entering, a man handed Dad a book. It is written, I believe, by one of the main contributors of the memorial, who is also a survivor. It didn't take much time to walk through it, but it was definitely a must see.

We then made our way to the harbor to get our tickets for tomorrow's duck tour. They have a really cute carousel that I want to take Teddy on tomorrow. Instead of horses it is all sea animals.  Next we headed back to the hotel because Teddy desperately needed a nap.

After falling asleep on the way to the hotel Teddy took almost a two hour nap. Everyone else hung out and tried to figure out the plan for the next couple days.  Once we were back to moving and awake we headed to Fenway Park.

I imagined that Fenway Park was going to be calm because there was no game, but we were surprised to learn that the Zac Brown Band was having a concert there tonight and we were just hitting the rush of people.  Unfortunately we couldn't get close to the stadium or get our picture with any of the statues, but that's ok.

We then made our way to Regina's Pizzeria for dinner; it was not what I imagined.  I thought it was going to be a dine in pizza restaurant. Instead, it was a quicker fast-food restaurant where you could get pizza by the slice or could order full pizzas.  Mom and Dad got pizza slices and Thom and I got small pizzas.  I go the white ham/pineapple/basil/garlic pizza. It was delicious! Next we made the 20 minute trek to the Skywalk Observatory.  I really enjoyed walking through the Fenway Park neighborhood.  There were many nice places with patios that looked enjoyable.

Once we arrived at the Skywalk Observatory (50 floors up) we all got a handheld device that walked you through the different things you'd see when looking out the window. I fully believe that his was Teddy's favorite stop. Not because he learned much, but because he got to listen to his own device and run around. He was way past tired and exhaustion and had moved to on to crazy.  By the time we exchanged subways and got back to the hotel it was past 10. Teddy was a trooper today!

Tomorrow is going to be another full day!
