Today we headed up the coast to our destination for the evening, Camden.  This morning was a little "on your own" time. Dad and Mom went to pick up the rental car near Harvard. They were able to walk on campus on their way to the rental car shop.  Thom was able to work out during this time and Teddy and I hung out and watched cartoons in the hotel room.  Once Mom and Dad arrived back with our rental van we loaded up and headed out of Boston toward our first stop of Ogunquit, Maine.

Ogunquit (and our next stop, Kennebunkport) were suggested to Thom and I by Vern, a tour guide on our recent DC trip. He grew up in Maine and suggested these locations as stopping points along our journey to Acadia.  Our first stop in Ogunquit was for lunch at Barnacle Billy's. I found this restaurant online and it had raving reviews.  They had an outdoor porch, so we enjoyed lunch on the water.  Teddy had a cheeseburger but tried lobster for the first time.  Thom and I shared a lobster roll and Dad ordered a boiled lobster.  All were delicious.  Across the street was the beginning of the Marginal Way walk. It is a 1.5 mile path along the rocky coast. It was breathtakingly beautiful.  We didn't walk the entire path due to time, but would have been fun to do the entire thing. Next we stopped at the Ogunquit Beach because it was suggested to by one of Dad's colleagues.  The water was cold but the sand was soft. Teddy seemed to like the water splashing on his feet, but he did not like having to rinse the sand off of him in the cold water.

We then headed toward Kennebunkport. We stopped in the shopping area. Mom and Dad got some ice cream while Thom, Teddy and I tried to make our way to see a lighthouse. Unfortunately, the sidewalk ended so we turned around and met back up with Mom and Dad.  All of us then drove to see the Ghost Island Lighthouse.  It wasn't a lighthouse that you could walk to or up, but it was still pretty to see.

Our next stop was going to be the Portland Light Head, but it started to rain so we skipped it and will stop back on our way through on Saturday.

By this point it was dinnertime. Dad had tried exchanging some boots at LL Bean in Boston yesterday and was in need of purchasing a new pair. He heard that there was an LL Bean in Freeport so we decided to make that our dinner stop in hopes that we could do dinner and shoes in one stop.  As we got off the exit we saw a restaurant called Antonia's Bar and Pizzeria. We almost passed it up (my fault), but decided to turn around and go back.  Boy, am I happy we went back! The food was wonderful! Mom, Dad, Teddy and I shared the Maui pizza (Hawaiian + bacon and bbq sauce) and Thom got a loaded calzone. Both were terrific!! From there we headed to LL Bean. Teddy liked the "bubble" that went into the fish tank where he could see the fish.  We then walked around and found a kid area. He liked stacking and unstacking toys and coloring at the kids picnic table.  Dad got new boots and after looking at the fish again we were on our way.

The drive from Freeport to Camden was almost two hours. It was rainy and foggy so the views weren't great.

We arrived in Camden shortly after 9:00.  We are staying the cutest hotel! It is very country and homey.  Our room has a little "living room" off of it where Teddy is sleeping tonight. We have been lucky that each of the hotels we've stayed at have had a pack and play for Teddy.  Tonight's hotel even gave a little hand-knit blanket with the pack and play for Teddy to use tonight! This hotel has a nice pool, playground, breakfast, and even a playroom for kids! We have all said we wish we would have stayed here two nights instead of just one!

Tomorrow we hope to take Teddy swimming in the pool before we have to check out.  There are also some trails we'd like to explore. More to come tomorrow!
